Kano State government under ministry of Health ,launched the poliomyelitis vaccine in Ungogo local government area, citing the area’s high population and history of outbreaks.
Dr. Abubakar Labaran yusif, explained the purpose of launching the poliomyelitis vaccine in Ungogo town, he said the LGA has high number of O dose children .
Adding that Ungogo local government faces outbreaks of contagious diseases like cholera and diphtheria. However, with renewed efforts and community involvement, the state aims to overcome these challenges and achieve polio eradication .
Dr Labaran however ,Encourage parents, children and health workers to help each other and be kind to one another.
In their remark The World Health Organization (WHO) sunusi mayana has expressed concern over the persistent presence of polio despite significant funding.
Dr. Mayana, speaking at the 0 Dose Polio Campaign in Ungogo Local Government, vowed to expand access and awareness to eradicate the virus.
“We are spending a lot of money to make this virus go away but surprisingly every year we do this rally but we are not meeting the requirements.Therefore, this time we are ready to fight this polio disease tirelessly to make sure that Kano remain free polio state.”
Alh Abdulkadir magajin malam , village head, of ungogo local government appealed to parents to come out with their children to receive the polio vaccine .
He however appreciate the state government under the leadership of Engr Abba kabar yusif for his efforts in dealing with communicable and non communicable diseases.
Malama Huwaila, a parent, with 5 children vaccinated testified to the vaccine’s effectiveness, encouraging others to follow suit.
The state aims to vaccinate 3.6 million children under 5 years old across 44 local government.
