Hassan Ibrahim Gama has been selected to serve as the Kano State Coordinator for the Civil Society Network on Migration and Development, effective from 2024 to 2026.
As the selected coordinator, Gama will play a crucial role in promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration in Kano State.
In his remarks Hassan Ibrahim Gama said ,He will work closely with civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and government agencies to address migration-related issues.
“All CSOs/ CBOs in Kano working on Safe, orderly and regular migration should come together. Let us support the state to fight irregular migration, child trafficking and migrants rights.
“Civil Society Network on Migration and Development, Nigeria (CSOnetMADE) is space for a diverse group of civil society actors including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), faith-based organizations (FBOs) etc., as well as migrants, diaspora, experts and academics who organize and advocate for and with migrants at grassroots.”
The objective of the CSOnetMADE is to helps civil societies build and strengthen the work of this peoplecentered, rights-based movement on migration and development. With the growing nature of migration, its trends and dynamics, the need to manage migration effectively is pertinent for the origin, transit and destination countries.
Gama’s selection is a testament to his expertise and commitment to promoting safe and regular migration. His tenure is expected to bring about positive changes in the lives of migrants and host communities in Kano State.
Nigeria, an origin, transit and destination country, is managing its migration dynamics through its coordinating agency on migration- National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and establishment of migration governance structure and process.
