Hon. Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, federal commissioner of national population commission highlighted the benefits of high population, stressing that a well-planned economic strategy can harness this demographic advantage for development.
Stated this during orientations for media and desk officers from relevant MDAs organized by national population commission in collaboration with kanSLam supported by LAFIYA .
The event focused on Demographic Dividend, aiming to reduce dependency ratios.
He noted that the Kano state large dependent population recognized the potential of a demographic dividend, where a significant working-age population contributes to economic growth.
Tsanyawa expressed appreciation for Kano state governor’s support and cooperation in developing Kano State.
“By adopting a strategic approach to economic development, Kano State can unlock its demographic potential and become a model for sustainable growth in Nigeria ”
In his statement NPC State Director Alh. Balarabe Kabir highlighted the meeting’s objective as to promote awareness of Demographic Dividend’s value, to reduce the dependency ratio
However,Dr. Kabiru Dakata explained the concept of demographic devident emphasizing the need for youth to seek employment opportunities beyond government.
“Nigerians demographic devidend roadmap aims to harness the potential of it’s large youth population to achieve economic growth, sustainable development and improved well-being.”
Alh. Aminu Yakubu Bichi, Village Head of Bichi LG, urged parents to provide essential needs, including education.

Abdulkadir Salisu Kabara, LAFIYA Program State Lead Officer, expressed commitment to developing the Demographic Dividend agenda.
He also presented programs under LAFIYA, highlighting the UK and Nigeria partnership for health sector development.
“lafiya program design as the UK’s Nigeria flagship programs 2020-2027,to strengthen government for delivery of integrated health and nutrition, health financing and improve health security through approaches include response to the emergencies.”
Report shows Nigeria has a very young population, with almost half of it’s 230 million people being under the age of 15, which translates to around 46% of the national population.
However children at the age of 5 accounts for nearly 31 million .also each year at least 7 million babies are born . according to the Data from UNICEF.
Aminci Radio reported that,the workshop, held at Fabs Hotel Zaria, Kaduna State, brought together stakeholders from various MDAs, council of ulama, and media outlets.
