In preparation for the upcoming local government council elections in Kano state .Citizens for Development and Education (CDE) partnered with the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) in organizing a town hall meeting. The event aimed to sensitize citizens and ensure a hitch-free electoral process.
Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, Convener of Kano State Local Government Elections Observation and Founder of CDE, urged residents to participate actively in the elections and encouraged political parties to promote peace and non-violence .
In his remarks Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi, Chairman of KANSIEC, assured that the commission has completed all necessary preparations for a free, fair, and credible election.
Professor Hafiz Abubakar, Former Deputy Governor of Kano State and Chairman of the town hall meeting, warned stakeholders to refrain from actions that might disrupt the scheduled October 26 elections .
Abubakar emphasized the importance of prioritizing Kano’s interests over personal agendas, highlighting the state’s reputation for political consciousness and its status as the most populous state in Nigeria .
The town hall meeting brought together women leaders, youth leaders, opinion leaders, traditional , and religious leaders to foster a sense of unity and cooperation ahead of the elections.
