Kano Facebook Connect Holds 4th Youth Conference on Community Safety, Business Development

The Kano-based association of social media users, known as Kano Facebook Connect, has held its 4th annual youth conference focusing on business development skills and community safety.
The event brought together social media influencers, media practitioners, and key stakeholders, providing a platform for discussions on community safety and youth development.
In his remarks, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, commended the organisers, describing the conference as a positive initiative for youth development.
Waiya advised youths to be mindful of their online expressions, noting that what they post can impact their future. He warned against spreading harmful or misleading content and encouraged respectful communication at all times, stressing that discipline is key to success.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the association, Malam Isma’il Lamido, said the conference marked the fourth edition organised by the group.
He explained that the initiative continues to grow in relevance each year, adding that this year’s focus included business development, artificial intelligence, and community peace.
He noted that social media plays a key role in shaping public behaviour and that the conference aims to guide youths toward responsible engagement.
During the event, Bello Kano spoke on business development through social media, explaining how young people can leverage digital platforms to grow their businesses.
He highlighted strategies for content creation and audience engagement, encouraging consistency and innovation, while inspiring participants to explore online entrepreneurship.
Bashir Sharfadi also delivered a session on the use of artificial intelligence in modern technology, explaining how AI is transforming communication and business processes.
He encouraged youths to embrace AI tools to improve productivity, noting that technology is shaping the future of work and that understanding AI will give young people a competitive advantage.
The conference also featured officials from the Nigeria Police Force, represented by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, represented by ASN Sadik Maigatari.
Their participation underscored the importance of security agencies in community engagement, as they encouraged youths to support efforts toward maintaining peace.
The programme also attracted political figures and influential voices, including Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, media aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside other participants such as Aliyu Sufyan Alhassan, Muhammad Auwal Durumin Iyah, Bashir Sharfadi of Arewa Update, and Abubakar Dandago, among others.
Participants also engaged in interactive sessions, sharing concerns about the misuse of social media and calling for increased awareness and digital literacy.
