Open Letter Urges Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to Strengthen Partnership with Aliko Dangote for Kano’s Economic Growth
An open letter addressed to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on his administration to intensify efforts in building strategic partnerships with renowned industrialist, Aliko Dangote, to boost industrial development and create employment opportunities in the state.
The letter, signed by Khalid Imam, Chairman of Kano Literary Space, began by extending Ramadan greetings to the governor and commending his commitment to leading Kano State with dedication and vision.
The writer emphasized that Kano urgently needs a comprehensive economic revitalization plan, particularly in addressing unemployment among youths and women, who continue to face significant job challenges.
Among the key recommendations was a call for the governor to lead a high-powered delegation on a special visit to Aliko Dangote to congratulate him on the establishment of his major oil refinery in Nigeria, while demonstrating that Kano takes pride in its son’s achievements.
The letter further suggested that the visit should serve as an opportunity to formally request Dangote to channel more investments into Kano, particularly in agriculture, livestock, renewable energy such as solar and wind power, to revive struggling industries affected by inadequate electricity supply.
It also proposed that the Kano State Government should advocate for the establishment of a training center in Kano to equip youths with the skills needed to secure employment in large-scale industries, while ensuring indigene of the state receive fair employment consideration.
In addition, the letter recommended allocating a special scholarship quota for Kano students under Dangote’s educational support initiatives, enabling young people to benefit and aspire toward excellence and community development.
On investment opportunities, the writer encouraged the state government to mobilize awareness among traders and civil servants to purchase shares in the new refinery, including setting up a sensitization committee and providing interest-free loans to civil servants to enable them invest gradually.
The letter concluded by urging the Kano State Government not to lag behind in benefiting from opportunities created by its prominent business leaders, expressing confidence that the governor would carefully consider the proposals in the interest of Kano’s development.
