The donation aligns with the state government’s broader commitment to improving social welfare, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, particularly among disadvantaged populations.
Presenting the vehicle to Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf on Wednesday, the Chairperson of the Better Life Women Education and Children Future Foundation, Dr. Samira Abdullahi Abubakar, explained the purpose of the intervention.
She said the bus would support the daily movement of children rescued from the streets by the Kano State Government and currently undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
“This vehicle will ease transportation challenges, especially for hospital visits and other essential engagements involving rehabilitated children,” Dr. Samira said.
Dr. Samira further disclosed that the foundations are funding vocational and self-reliance training for ten thousand women and youths across Kano State to help them become economically independent and productive members of society.
According to her, the initiative was inspired by discussions held during an earlier courtesy visit to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, where key challenges facing humanitarian operations were highlighted.
She noted that the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs specifically raised the need for a functional vehicle to support logistics, which informed the decision of the Islamic Charity Foundation to intervene through its partner organization.
The Toyota Coaster bus was officially handed over to the Kano State Government as part of ongoing collaboration between the foundations and the state to enhance humanitarian service delivery.
Pulse Time Nigeria reports that,Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that would significantly support the state’s efforts to rehabilitate vulnerable children and empower women and youths.
