Vaccine Network, GHAI Urge Kano to Mobilize Domestic Resources Amid Dwindling Donor Support, to Reduce Highest Zero-Dose Burden

The Vaccine Network—supported by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) urged Kano State Government through its Ministry of health to activate Domestic Resources Mobilization for vaccines by tapping into local philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and development allies.
They expressed this at stakeholder Engagement with federal government House committee for health and State commissioner of health and the key stackhodels on Monday

In his Address during the meeting Prof. Emmanuel Alhassan Global Health Advocacy incubator GHAI Country Director, said Donor fatigue is real. Kano must take ownership of its vaccine programs through domestic resource mobilization. As Kano hosts Nigerians highest population of zero-dose children.

Prof. However said Kano also needs Transparency Dashboard for Public tracking of vaccine fund inflows and outflows. For accountability purposes.
In her statement Chika Offor CEO of Vaccine Network, pressed stakeholders for swift, strategic action,she however lamented that, the delay may risks thousands of lives.

Moreover the State Co-Funding need to Allocate a dedicated budget line to unlock matching grants from development Partners
However ,With global health funding shrinking , Kano’s dependency on external aid will left immunization programs in peril if the government do not act quick,Recent withdrawals by key partners have start exacerbated stockouts in some intervention like HIV AIDS and tuberculosis and the rest
In his remark Kano state Health Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf said they will look into the system especially when Kano already have existing task force for immunization headed by Deputy Governor and Kano state contribute 5% and 1% from the DRF and LGA allocated funds and development partners contribute in it to .
Report shows that With over 539, 000 zero-dose children putting Kano at Nigeria’s epicenter of vaccine deficits, health advocacy groups have sounded a red alert, demanding urgent domestic resource mobilization to avert a generational health crisis.
