Lafiya-FCDO trained WAQF Foundations working on Ethical Health Financing (EHF) from 26 LGAs of Kano State on Financial Management week after community of practice meeting was conducted. The training was conducted on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at Tahir Guest Palace Hotel Kano.
Speaking during the training Sahmin Madaki LGAF who represented the State Team Leader Lafiya-FCDO said the training was organized to bridge skills gap on financial management for the foundation leaders.
On there parts, the Technical Persons; Professor Warshu Tijjani Rabiu and Professor Muhammad Shamsu of International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIIBF) Bayero University, Kano took the participants through a combination of both theory and hands on/on the job financial management process and procedures guided by Waqf Islamic Concept.
It can be recalled that in 2022 Lafiya-FCDO developed the EHF WAQF ideal concept went through rigorous expert review process world over, trained and supported local communities from 8 LGAs of Kano State later on boarded additional 18 LGAs which make cumulative total of 26 LGAs in Kano State. The foundation registered with regulatory bodies in Nigeria for legitimacy before they start operationalizing the concept. The idea is community deriving effort of mobilization local community resources as alternative health care financing.
Speaking on behalf of the Waqf Foundations Ghazali Ibrahim Ungogo appreciated the Lafiya-FCDO for the support. The intervention really add value to local communities lives. saved many lives, also a milestone toward reducing maternal,infant mortality and morbidity in Kano State.
