GAMMUN in partnership with Kano State Ministry of Health Host 2-Day NCD Budget Workshop in Kaduna.
GAMMUN Center for Care and Development Nigeria in partnership with the State Ministry of Health Organized a 2-Day residential capacity building workshop on Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Annual Budget Execution has concluded at the Quarter House Hotel, Kaduna.
Dr. Abubakar A. Hamza, NCD Coordinator, emphasized the urgency of strengthening NCD program management, stating that ,Non-communicable diseases remain a leading cause of mortality in Kano State.
Dr Hamza added that Effective budget planning and execution are crucial to scaling up interventions and improving health outcomes.
In his ramark Yakubu A Sabiu, Director of Budget, highlighted the importance of a well-structured budget, saying, “A well-structured budget is the backbone of any successful health program.
During the session the activities take place as follows, Overview of NCDs and annual budget processes, Budget classification and memo structure, Practical group exercises to review and draft memos, Hands-on memo drafting and peer review sessions among others
The workshop, organized by the GAMMUN Center for Care and Development Nigeria (GCCDN) in partnership with the Kano State Ministry of Health and supported by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), aimed to strengthen administrative and executive council memo writing skills among key health officials to improve budget execution for NCD programs in Kano State.
Dr. Fara’u Abdussalam of the Kano State Primary Healthcare Board reaffirmed the commitment to excellence in health program administration and financial governance.
Mustapha H. Gwarzo, State Coordinator of GCCDN, emphasized, “Strengthening administrative skills is vital to ensure that allocated funds are effectively utilized to combat the growing challenge of non-communicable diseases.
However ,Hamza Hassan Abdullahi, Country Coordinator for GHAI, added, that Effective budget execution starts with clear, well-structured communication and documentation.
Pulse Time Nigeria reports that,Participants developed actionable plans to implement the knowledge gained, ensuring improved budget execution for the fiscal year 2025. The workshop’s outcome is expected to enhance fiscal planning and execution related to NCDs in Kano State.
