The Kano State Ministry of Environment has announced plans to plant 3 million trees across the state to mitigate the effects of environmental degradation and climate change.
The Commissioner for Environment Dr Dahiru Muhammad Hashim made this disclosure during a roundtable meeting with civil society organizations, where he fielded questions regarding the state’s environmental policy and efforts to address climate change.
“We are committed to working with civil society organizations and other stakeholders to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in Kano State.”Dr Dahiru said.
“We recognize the devastating impact of climate change and environmental degradation on our communities. Planting 3 million trees is a critical step towards mitigating these effects and ensuring a sustainable future for Kano State.”He added
During the interview with The TIMES HAUSA,The commissioner Dr Dahiru Muhammad Hashim said the State Ministry of environment Start preparations to tackle the Kano predicted 2025 flooding, which has raised concerns among residents and stakeholders.
“Flooding is a serious threat to our communities and Kano state in general, we are taking proactive steps to prepare for the predicted 2025 flooding.
The Chairman of the Aminu Magashi Foundation( AMG ),and the organiser of the meeting Dr Aminu magashi Garba in his remark, He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and civil society organizations in addressing environmental challenges.
“Civil society organizations have a critical role to play in promoting environmental sustainability and good governance. We are pleased to partner with the Kano State Ministry of environment to address pressing environmental challenges.”
