Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken a significant step towards enhancing the well-being of the state’s most vulnerable populations with the signing into law of the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA).
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the Governor, Engr Abba Kabir Yusif the establishment of KASPA and the other three agencies :
– Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASIAA), Kano State Information and Communication Technologies Development Agency (KASITDA), and Kano State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (KASMEDA) – is a key part of his administration’s vision to create a modern, inclusive, and economically vibrant Kano.
This development is part of a larger initiative that saw the governor sign four landmark bills establishing new agencies aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks and accelerating sustainable development across Kano State.
The establishment of KASPA is expected to provide a much-needed safety net for the state’s most vulnerable citizens, including the poor, the elderly, and those affected by shocks and disasters. The agency will play a crucial role in designing and implementing social protection programs that will help to reduce poverty, inequality, and vulnerability.
The Governor Abba Kabir Yusif emphasized that the new agencies will drive job creation, attract investment, and ensure the efficient implementation of government initiatives.
He also warned that violations of the provisions of the laws establishing these agencies will be met with strict penalties, underscoring his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
The establishment of KASPA and the other agencies reflects Governor Yusuf’s continued efforts to reform public institutions, improve governance, and position Kano as a leading center for innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth
