
The Pathfinder international in collaboration with Kano State Led Accountability Mechanism (KanSLAM) has organized a 2-day capacity building workshop for Ward Development Committees (WDC) Chairmen.
The training focused on basic health care provision funds (BHCPF) tracking and implementation to improve women’s health in Kano State.
In his statement KanSLAM representative Safiyanu Lawan Bichi, expressed his appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm and commitment to improving healthcare services.
“This training will enable them to understand their role as WDC “
“We expect the WDCs to step down the training to other members in the community, taking ownership of their services,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of community-approved structures like WDCs in promoting accountability.
“The WDCs are crucial in improving the capacity of communities to demand better healthcare services,” he added.
Dr. Awwal Halilu, a facilitator at the workshop, praised the WDCs for their proactive approach to addressing healthcare challenges.
This training will help them in the area of any issues arising at the health facilities ,they will find solutions to the problems and it will enable them to know numerous ways they will use to curtail the challenges faced.
He said that people in the community need to take ownership of their health facilities and in any eventualities that may occur they should abide by the different levels of reporting issues exacerbating the health facilities.
Dr Halilu added that the score card template was developed by the WDCs under the guidance of the trainers which was an impressive turnout.
Among the local Government attended are ,kura,madobi ,Tarauni among others.
