Ward Development Committees (WDCs) in Kano State have called on the state Government to provide permanent security guards to Primary healthcare centers in the state to prevent theft and ensure safety in the community.
In his statement Umar Alhassan a participant in the training,emphasized the need for Pathfinder to strengthen relationship between security officials and WDC .
Alhassan made this remarks At a 4-day workshop organized by Pathfinder International,
” Some hospitals have only one guard working 24/7. with no shift,It’s unrealistic to expect one person to secure an entire hospital,” he said.
Dr. Nura Haladu, Secretary of the Kano State Lead accountability Mechanism (Kano SLAM), noted that the workshop aims to motivate WDCs to carry out their work effectively.
Participants at the workshop expressed gratitude to Pathfinder International for organizing the training.
Mr. Sani Idris Inuwa Fanshekara said, “Many of us didn’t know our role and responsibilities, but this training will help us a lot.”
Malama Faridah Husaini Abubakar, WDC Diso Gwale Local Government , appreciated the Pathfinder for the training, saying it would improve their work, especially in using communication skills for effective advocacy.
A Pathfinder International representative appreciate the WDCs and hoped that they would put the knowledge gain into practice.
