The Kano State Government has embarked on a mission to transform the lives of repentant hoodlums in the state.
Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya revealed this development during a media roundtable meeting, on safe corridor initiative,highlighting the program’s objective to encourage thugs to surrender and avoid Bad political rallies .
Ambassador waiya said,This comprehensive approach underscores Governor Abba Kabir Yusif’s commitment to ensuring public safety and promoting social cohesion.
“The initiative, know as Safe Corridor, under Kano peace committee in collaboration with community development and education CDE ,will work closely with,.Nigerian Police Force,Hisbah Board,Office of the Special Adviser on Joint Security Services .”
Waiya however,said the initiative will Provide education, vocational training, and counseling to help repentant hoodlums reintegrate into society.
He pointed out that, after necessary profiling and orientation the national drug law enforcement agency NDLEA will conduct an Assessment of the repentant thugs to ascertain their health status before developing a template.
According to him, the youths have been profiled and will undergo formal orientation next week.
“On how they will be fully rehabilitated before undergoing reformation and empowerment by the state government”
“Already 207 youth have been identified and we have informed them of the intention of the state government to engage them”
He also emphasize that safe corridor initiative will Fostered dialogue between community leaders, security agencies, and former hoodlums to promote trust and understanding.Offering economic incentives and job opportunities to support the rehabilitation process.
The TIMES HAUSA reported that ,The community development and education CDE in collaboration with Kano state peace committee initiatives has potential to reduce violence and promote peace in Kano State.
