Kano Govt Provides N6.5m Relief Support to Fire Victims in Danbatta
The Kano State Government has provided relief support to victims of a fire outbreak in Zago town located in Danbatta Local Government Area, as part of efforts to assist residents affected by disasters.
The intervention was carried out through the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, which distributed financial assistance totaling N6,576,537.33 to 28 beneficiaries affected by the inferno that occurred in February 2025.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Amina Yusuf Yargaya, said the state government remains committed to supporting citizens during difficult times.
She noted that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is deeply concerned about the welfare of residents, particularly those affected by emergencies and natural disasters.
Yargaya explained that the financial support was aimed at cushioning the impact of the losses suffered by the victims and helping them recover from the incident.
She also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the assistance provided to them by the government.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency, Abdullahi Isyaku Kubarachi, said the agency conducted an assessment to determine the extent of damage caused by the fire before approving the relief support.
Kubarachi advised residents to always ensure that fire sources are properly extinguished after domestic use, particularly at night before going to bed.
He added that the agency will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to respond promptly to emergencies and provide support to affected communities across the state.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Garba Ibrahim, urged members of the public to take preventive measures to avoid fire outbreaks.

Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant on Social Support, Muttaqa Sani Gaya, reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to improving the welfare of vulnerable groups and disaster victims.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Danbatta Local Government Area, Jamilu Abubakar Danbatta, represented by Abdulkadir Muhammad, appreciated the state government for the support provided to the victims.
He said the assistance would help the affected residents recover from the losses they suffered during the fire incident.
The beneficiaries also expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government for the intervention and support during their difficult time.
