He noted that the gesture demonstrates the governor’s commitment to inclusion, recognition of grassroots contributors, and partnership with non-government actors working for community development across the state.
According to Hashim, civil society groups play a vital role in promoting accountability, humanitarian support, public health awareness, and social development, and the recognition will motivate organizations to continue supporting government policies and people-centered programs.
“This is the first of its kind. We sincerely appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for carrying everyone along and recognizing the role of civil society in Kano State,” Comrade Sunusu Hashim stated.
He added that the award reflects a leadership style that values participation and shared responsibility in governance, stressing that such support strengthens trust between the government and the civic space.
Observers say the move has been widely welcomed among civic groups, who see it as a morale booster and a sign of deeper engagement between government and civil society in Kano State.
The CSOs also prayed for continued guidance and success for the governor, pledging to sustain collaboration with the state government in advancing social welfare and development initiatives.
