AHBN ADVOCATES FOR INCLUSION OF FAMILY PLANNING COMMODITIES IN KSCHMA SERVICE SCHEME

The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has intensified its push for improved access to family planning services, following an advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KASCHMA), Dr. Rahila Mukhtar.
According to the statement shared to Pulse Time Nigeria by Aqibu Hamisu and Sulaiman Jallo, who were part of the delegation, said the visit are to ensure family planning commodities added to the agency’s benefits package.
During the visit, the AHBN team was led by Aqibu Hamisu (Advocacy and Accountability Specialist), alongside Sulaiman Umar Jallo (Knowledge Management Officer) and Muhammad Rabiu (Logistics Officer). The delegation emphasized the need for beneficiaries to not only access counseling and testing services but also receive essential family planning commodities under the KSCHMA scheme.
The discussion centered on strengthening the availability, accessibility, and affordability of family planning services as a core component of primary healthcare delivery in Kano State.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Mukhtar, commended AHBN for its unwavering support in advancing healthcare accountability and improving service quality.
She revealed that KSCHMA has already initiated steps toward integrating family planning commodities, following recommendations from the KSCHMA Capitation Review Committee.
She added that once the proposed capitation adjustments receive final approval, the agency will be fully positioned to expand its service offerings to include family planning commodities, thereby enhancing health outcomes for families across the state.
