Community Initiative Condemns Midnight Raid in Tsanyawa LGA, Calls for Enhanced Security Collaboration.

The Know Your Neighbor Community Development Initiative (KYN-CDI) has issued a strong condemnation of a deadly attack by armed bandits on Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The late-night assault resulted in the tragic killing of an elderly woman and the abduction of three residents.

According to a press statement released by KYN-CDI on Sunday, the attack occurred around 11:00 pm on Saturday, November 29th. The armed assailants reportedly approached the village on foot, having parked their motorcycles at a distance to avoid raising alarm before infiltrating the community.

The intruders then terrorized sleeping residents. In a particularly heartbreaking detail from the statement, the elderly victim was shot after pleading for the safety of her child.

“This heartbreaking incident once again highlights the urgent need for strengthened community vigilance, improved communication channels, and deeper collaboration between citizens, traditional institutions, and government security agencies,” the KYN-CDI statement read.

The community development group extended its prayers and condolences to the family of the deceased and the entire Yankamaye community, stating it stands in solidarity with them “during this immensely painful moment.”

KYN-CDI, which focuses on promoting peace and neighborly cooperation across Kano State, used the statement to call on relevant authorities to intensify efforts. The initiative urged for the safe return of the abducted victims and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

The attack in Yankamaye has reignited concerns about rural security in parts of Kano State. Residents and local leaders have repeatedly called for increased security patrols and a more robust response to the threat of banditry and kidnapping
