Kano Ministry of Health Scales Up NHCI Training Across 100 PHCs in the state.

The Kano State Ministry of Health has begun a large-scale training programme aimed at strengthening Non-Communicable Disease services across 100 Primary Health Care facilities in all 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
The training aims to bringing preventive and treatment services for non-communicable diseases closer to communities, reducing the rising burden of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses.

Declaring the training open, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, charged participants to take the sessions seriously, understand the concepts being taught, and put to effective use the tools provided to them.
He stated that the ministry expects improved service delivery, better patient screening, accurate diagnosis, and enhanced data reporting from participants after the training.
Dr. Yusuf also highlighted government schemes designed to support residents living with hypertension, including retirees, civil servants, and vulnerable populations under KACHMA and the Abba Care programme.
He stressed that these schemes were created to ease the financial burden of managing NCDs while ensuring that more people have access to quality healthcare at the primary level.
The Commissioner expressed optimism about the overall success of the training and urged all participants to remain committed to improving health outcomes in their respective communities.
Pulse Time Nigeria reports that the two-day training, scheduled for Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2025, is taking place at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Kano, with over 200 participants .
