Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Lauds Kano State Humanitarians for Setting New Benchmark in Social Protection Delivery

The Federal Government has applauded the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for establishing a new standard in humanitarian governance and social protection delivery across the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Muhammad Doro, expressed the commendation while receiving a delegation from the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA), led by its Director General, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), during a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Doro said Kano State had demonstrated national leadership through the establishment of the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, coupled with the strengthening of KASPA as a central coordinating institution for social intervention programmes.
According to him, the reforms put in place by Kano reflect a forward-looking government that prioritizes the welfare of the poor and vulnerable, adding that such effort aligns with the Federal Government’s renewed focus on targeted humanitarian delivery.
The Minister assured that the Federal Ministry will continue to strengthen collaboration with Kano State’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, particularly in enhancing synergy, streamlining programme implementation, and boosting community-level resilience.
He further revealed that Kano State is among the states expected to benefit from the soon-to-be-launched National Humanitarian Council, a platform designed to unite state humanitarian institutions and federal actors for improved nationwide coordination and effectiveness.
Dr. Doro also underscored the importance of data integrity in social protection programmes, urging KASPA to maintain a credible, validated, and inclusive social register aligned with national standards to improve targeting efficiency.
He encouraged the Agency to adopt best practices from advanced humanitarian and social protection systems to further strengthen its institutional capacity and delivery framework.
Earlier, the Director General of KASPA presented updates on the State’s achievements in livelihood support, agricultural input distribution, economic empowerment, and targeted welfare interventions designed to uplift vulnerable households.
She also highlighted priority areas where federal collaboration and technical support are required to enhance the State’s humanitarian architecture and deepen impact across communities.
The visit ended with a joint commitment from both parties to intensify partnership, reinforce institutional synergy, and expand social protection coverage for poor and vulnerable groups across Kano State.
