AMG Foundation Support Kano Healthcare with Emergency Donation and 9 PHC Support Initiative
The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation has announced a dual intervention, comprising an immediate donation of emergency medical supplies and a expansive new initiative to support nine Primary Healthcare Centers across the state.
The AMG intervention in collaboration with the Kano State Healthcare Forum and partners, donate essential drugs and medical consumables worth N200,000 to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital .
According to a statement signed by the AMG Foundation’s Director of Operations, Mr. Jalo Sulaiman, Said the donation was presented by Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba himself.
During the presentation, Dr. Magashi emphasized the critical need for the judicious utilization of the items to cater to the needs of vulnerable patients, who are the intended beneficiaries of the gesture.
He also used the occasion to announce an immediate expansion of the Foundation’s support, stating that a similar donation would be extended to at least two Primary Healthcare Centers in the vicinity of the teaching hospital.
The Chief Medical Director of MAWTH, while receiving the items, expressed profound gratitude to the AMG Foundation for the generous contribution, noting its potential to significantly enhance emergency healthcare service delivery at the facility.
Building on this emergency support, Dr. Magashi, who also serves as Chairman of the Foundation, announced a much larger, strategic initiative aimed at improving maternal health outcomes.
The AMG Foundation will provide comprehensive support to nine Primary Healthcare Centers across Kano State. The support is designed to complement the efforts of the Kano State government and will focus on providing antenatal care drugs and consumables.
The primary goal he said is to improve women’s health and reduce the risks associated with pregnancies, thereby directly tackling maternal morbidity and mortality in the state.
This new program is not the Foundation’s first foray into supporting grassroots healthcare. The AMG Foundation has a established track record of strengthening PHCs through targeted interventions.
Previous initiatives include providing human resources, such as embedding and paying for a volunteer healthcare worker at the Unguwa Uku PHC in Tarauni LGA, and improving infrastructure by providing and connecting water tanks to a borehole at the Diso PHC in Gwale LGA.
