Kano Ministry of Humanitarians affairs Distributes 1,600 Bags of Rice, Relief Continues Till Month End and Donated 3.2m to Gas Explosion Victims.
The Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in collaboration with philanthropist Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Dan Gaske, has commenced the distribution of 1,600 bags of rice to vulnerable residents across the state.
The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, disclosed this during the flag-off ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Kano on Tuesday. He revealed that the distribution exercise, which began today, is scheduled to continue until the end of the month to ensure wide reach.

Commissioner Kibiya outlined the breakdown of the donation, stating that the Kano State Government provided 1,200 bags of rice, while Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Dan Gaske generously contributed 400 bags to bolster the initiative.
The relief materials are targeted at indigent citizens, including People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs), women groups, and the elderly.
“We are here today to celebrate the spirit of giving and solidarity that defines International Humanitarian Day. the Kano State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, is committed to alleviating the hardships faced by our people. This distribution of 1,200 bags of rice is a testament to that commitment,” Aliyu kibiya stated.
Kibiya added, “We are immensely grateful for the support from Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Dan Gaske. His contribution of 400 bags of rice, Alhamdulillah, will go a long way in providing much-needed relief to our people during these trying times. This public-private partnership is a model we cherish.”
In a separate humanitarian gesture, the Commissioner announced that the State Government, through his ministry, has presented a cash relief of Three Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N3,200,000) to the families of the victims of the recent gas explosion incident in Janbulo.
“The government shares in your grief. This token is to assist the affected families in coping with the devastating loss and to show that they are not alone,” Kibiya explained.
Furthermore, as part of the day’s activities, Commissioner Adamu Aliyu Kibiya visited the Dorayi Karama Rehabilitation Centre, where he distributed food and refreshments to the inmates to ensure they also partook in the celebration.
The event was attended by a cross-section of stakeholders, including representatives from various civil society organisations, From within and outside the country,women groups, and associations for people living with disabilities, who all commended the government’s sustained efforts in poverty alleviation.
