Kano Assembly Enters final Day of Retreat Toward Enhanced Legislative Effectiveness
The Kano State House of Assembly has entered the second day of its three-day annual retreat for Honourable Members and Management Staff in Abuja. The focus of today’s sessions centers on the functions and powers of the Kano State House of Assembly Service Commission, alongside presentations on legislative reporting techniques by Dr. Dahiru Idris of SAHL Human Resources.
The second presentation, delivered by Prof. Aminu Umar, emphasized the importance of effective constituency relations, especially in challenging political environments. He urged legislators to embody resilience, humility, diligence, and a commitment to transcending party lines in service to their constituents, qualities he described as key to earning lasting public support.
In his remarks, Lead Consultant and Head of Team at SAHL Human Resources, Prof. Abdullahi S. Danwanka, expressed his gratitude to the Kano Assembly. He highlighted critical areas where legislators play pivotal roles in the budget process, particularly in relation to their constitutional powers on appropriations and public accounts oversight.
