KANO STATE GOVERNMENT TO MITIGATE SOIL EROSION IN GWARZO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.
The Kano State Government is committed to tackling the issue of soil erosion in Gwarzo Local Government area.
This was stated by the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Council, Dr. Mani Tsoho Gwarzo, during a meeting with a delegation from the Federal Government at his office.
Dr. Mani Tsoho, represented by his Vice, Honorable Abdulmumin Garba Lakwaya, assured that the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, will soon bring an end to the problem of soil erosion in the area.
The Vice Chairman then , took the delegation on a tour to witness the extent of the damage caused by soil erosion in various parts of the local government area.
Some of the affected areas are ,Lakwaya Ward, including Unguwar Tsamiya and Lakwaya Main Market,Jama’a Ward Malamawa and the town’s cemetery, Getso Ward, behind Getso Main Market.
In his Speech the leader of the delegation, Engineer Muhammad Kabir, stated that they came to assess the damage caused by soil erosion and to find solutions to mitigate its impact.
He assured that upon their return to Abuja, they will submit a report on the extent of the damage and recommend measures to address the issue.
During an inspection tour Honorable Abdulmumin Garba Lakwaya was accompanying by Councillor of Lakwaya Ward, Councillor of Jama’a Ward, and Councillor of Getso Ward as well as Village Head of Getso and Adviser to the Chairman on Information and public Enlightenment among others.
