Kano State Government Disburse Relief packages to 500 windstorm Victims in Sumaila Local Government Area
As part of its efforts to show compassion and care for its citizens, the Kano State Government has distributed various relief materials to residents affected by the recent building collapse caused by a windstorm disaster in Sumaila Local Government Area.
This was coming on the heel of the recent devastating windstorm that claimed three lives and left 300 houses destroyed on some parts of SUMAILA L.G.communities
This intervention was approved by His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the incident.
The relief items distributed included bags of cement, roofing sheets, clothing, food items, maize, as well as cash assistance.
During the distribution exercise, the Chairman of Sumaila Local Government, Alhaji Faruk Abdu Sumaila, urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the support they received. He stated that this initiative is part of the state government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in times of need.
In addition, Alhaji Faruk announced a cash donation of ₦500,000 each to three families who lost their loved ones in the disaster.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the Local Government, Alhaji Surajo Idris Kanawa, noted that while the assistance cannot replace what the victims lost, it will go a long way in easing their hardship and setbacks.
Also speaking, the Head of community and Social Welfare department Sumaila LGA, Ibrahim Bala, assured the public that the distribution was carried out fairly, based on merit, without any political bias or favoritism.
On behalf of the traditional rulers, Alhaji Isah Magayaki, representative of the district head, thanked the Kano State Government and the Chairman of the Local Government for this timely and important intervention

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries Abdurrahaman Yunusa Waziri Sitti expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Alhaji Faruk Abdu Sumaila, pledging to use the assistance wisely.
This relief effort demonstrates the Kano State Government’s continued commitment to safeguarding the dignity and welfare of its citizens, especially during emergencies and times of disaster.
