Kano state led accountability mechanism (kanSLAM) has advocated for allocation of ₦500 million start-up grant for Kano Center for Disease Control in the proposed 2025 budget.
The representative of the coalition Hajiya Aisha Halliru made the request while presenting KanSLAM demands during 2025 budget public hearing held at Kano state House of Assembly on Thursday.

Hajiya Aisha Halilu said this will facilitate a smooth and effective operational launch of the agency in alignment with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s strategic health blueprint.
KanSLAM also advocated for increased budgetary allocation for Tuberculosis and Leprosy control programs, by raising the allocation from ₦115,000,000.00 to
₦200,000,000.00 to combat these life-threatening diseases.
The coalition also advocated for maintaining the allocation of five hundred million naira for emergency preparedness and response (EPR) in 2025 budget.
“Increased budgetary allocation for nutrition programs in addition to sufficient budget for maternal health services, child spacing to address maternal and child health.
“Particularly noteworthy is the governments sustained commitment to maintaining the health sector budget allocation well above the Abuja declaration of 15%,” KanSLAM advocated.
In his address the speaker of the House Alhaji Jibril Ismail Falgore represented by Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu pledged to treat the submissions with utmost respect.
He expressed appreciation to all those who participated in this year’s budget public hearing in the Assembly.
Butu-Butu used the medium to extend condolences to CSOs over the death of I. G Maryam and Prof. Jibrin Isa Diso.
Also speaking the chairman House committee on appropriation, Alhaji Aminu Sa’adu Ungoggo reiterated the assembly’s commitment in passing a-citizens-oriented budget.
He stressed that the house will scrutinize the inputs for possible inclusion into the budget to align with the yearnings and aspirations of the public.
