In response to the current outbreaks of cholera and diphtheria, Kano State Ministry of Health teamed up with Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria for a 3-day workshop to craft effective communication messages and strategies to eradicate the outbreaks in the state.
In his statement Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusif, heavenly represented by acting permanent secretary of the ministry,Shehu sani Shehu emphasized governor Abba Kabir yusif commitment to improving health sector.
The commissioner added the importance of having information about disease, helps to reduce the spread of disease .
“Information is power,With knowledge, people can seek better treatment and reduce disease risk.”
“if all the people have good information about the diseases they can get better treatment and reduce the risk of it ”
“Therefore, Ministry of Health, in collaboration with breakthrough action Nigeria, organized the workshop to created a strategy and massages to educate the general public , because prevention is better than cure“
In other hand ,the state lead officer of Breakthrough Action Nigeria, Kano state branch, Ahmad Mu’az, explained aimed of workshop to create messages that will be used to inform the people of Kano state about the diphtheria and cholera to reduce its prevalence among the people.
Ahmad Mu az , added that they have formed special committees under which they toured secondary schools and Forms health clubs,Training students on hygiene and healthy habits Also Providing materials for encouragement which are exercise books, water bottles to 15 schools across 5 local government in the state
“By working together, Kano State is taking proactive steps to combat these outbreaks and promote public health.”
Aminci Radio reported that the workshop took place at Tahir guests place kano which was attended by relevant Stakeholders, health practitioners, media, religious leaders, civil society among others..
