Kano state girls initiative for learning and empowerment AGILE ,organized two day high level stakeholders engagement of AGILE project review,to annihilated the misconception trending on the project.
During the workshop the state commissioner of education Alh Umar haruna doguwa said, Kano atate government had conducted thorough investigation on the AGILE programme which was targeted and supporting the Girls child Education .
Doguwa disclosed this during the engagement review of life skills training manual held at Tahir quest place kano.
he added that, following agitations and complains from Islamic cleric and other stakeholders on the negative aspect of some portions of the programme, the ministry had conducted a thorough screening of the entire AGILE manual and had exponge all the aspects that are contrary to the teachings of Islam and Hausa culture.
“AGILE projects programme entails three portions, aspect of building structures, empowerment and enlightenment, but we have realized that the aspect which stakeholders are not comfortable with is in the aspect of enlightenment.
“We established a commitee which reviewed the AGILE Text Books and all areas that are contrary to our religion and culture has been exponged,and we call on the Ulama’s and other relevant stakeholders to come with suggestions and opinions on any program sponsored by foreign donors.”
On other hand the project coordinator Alhaji Nasiru Kwalli said they have engaged Islamic clerics and relevant stakeholders in order to discard anti cultural context if any .
Kwalli however, said the resolutions of the stakeholders meeting would be translated in Hausa, Arabic and Ajami for stakeholders to have a clear understanding of what the Girl Child are being taught in school aimed at ensuring that it tallies with the teachings of Islam and the culture.
