Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 145 deaths from Lassa fever in 2025, with 766 confirmed cases reported from 5,678 suspected infections across 18 states.‍ The NCDC in its lastest situation report for epidemiology week 24 (June 9-15), said the case fatality rate stands at 18.9%, up from 17.6% during the same period in 2024. It said Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, Taraba, and Ebonyi are the most affected states, accounting for 91% of confirmed cases, with Ondo alone contributing 31%.
